The demands of modern day living mean that stress is affecting more and more people. Demands from work, family, friends, financial problems, relationship breakdown are a few of the issues which can lead people to feeling stressed or anxious. In fact any situation or thought that makes someone feel anxious, angry or frustrated can make them feel stressed.

Stress may affect, amongst other things, appetite, sleep, energy levels and fatigue. Emotional responses to stress may include sadness, frustration, irritation, poor judgement, agitation and hopelessness. People suffering from stress may find that they start to rely more on alcohol, nicotine and/or drugs.

So how can we help? Hypnotherapy uses relaxation which is beneficial in reducing stress levels. It also aims to enable people to view the situation from a different perspective giving them a positive outlook thus reducing stress levels and empowering the individual. At Plymouth Clinical Hypnotherapy our aim is to rejuvenate through hypnosis coupled with stress management techniques.

Stress & anxiety

A small quantity of stress is good for us. Without some stress we wouldn’t react speedily to situations which require a prompt or fast response. Stress also encourages productivity through increased motivation. However, when we start to suffer from too much stress it is harmful to us physically and mentally. Most people will know when they are suffering from too much stress as their ability to function ‘normally’ is affected and they begin to struggle with everyday tasks.
