At one time or another, we’ve all experienced a little difficulty with sleep. Sleep is precious as it allows us to rest and restore ourselves in mind and body. Sleep disorders leave us unable to function and cope with everyday life. Disturbed sleep has terrible effects on our mood, efficiency and stress levels.

Nightmares and night terrors can also interrupt sleep. Most of us will have nightmares at some point; terrifying dreams that can often be recalled in detail. They become problematic when they recur, happen too often and we find ourselves too scared to go back to sleep. Often resolving the underlying reason for fear or stress will see an end to the nightmares. Night terrors differ from nightmares in that we don’t realise that we are dreaming and we don’t wake up; it is left to the person hearing us scream out to tell us that we were in an alarming dream-space. Night terrors are most common in children and can go hand in hand with sleep walking. During hypnosis, the content of the night terror can often be recalled and resolved.
Because all sleep phenomena happen in the deepest parts of our unconscious mind, hypnotherapy is often the first choice for alleviating symptoms and promoting healthy, restful sleep.
