Pain

All of us experience pain.  Pain is the body’s way of telling us that we need to pay attention to it, to nurture and protect it.  It is, generally, a good and useful thing.  If we break our leg, the pain of it would stop us from putting weight on it and causing further damage.  Chronic pain, however, is a debilitating condition.  When we are in acute or continuous pain, we find it hard to think and function.

Pain exists in the brain and not the body.  The body may send the signals but the brain interprets them, giving us the sensation of pain.  And the brain remembers previous pain, which is why amputees will still feel sensations in their non-existent limb.  Using hypnotherapy we tap into the subconscious part of the brain and can significantly reduce pain; if appropriate we can eliminate pain.  We can teach you self-hypnosis so that you can reduce your own pain whenever you need to.

Many people with long term conditions use hypnosis rather than reaching for more pain-killers.  Others to benefit from hypnotherapy include those in palliative care, people with post-operative pain and those with phantom limb pain.   If you are in pain and come to see us without a diagnosis we’ll send you to the doctor before we do anything.  Once we know it’s the right thing, you can experience delightful relief and freedom from pain using hypnosis.
