Burnout is often a growing emotional, mental and / or physical exhaustion that isn’t alleviated by sleeping, an increasing sense of being cut off from ourselves and other people, a decreasing ability to be effective, a feeling of being hollow, cynical, trapped, so very tired or just not there or a feeling of having to work harder and harder.
Most of us who burn out are capable, hard-working and likeable. We’ve often never had more than a few days sick in our lives. But now we’re feeling under the weather too often or for too long. Just getting up in the morning feels like a mountainous task because our heart has gone out of our situation. And we’re sick and tired of feeling this way.
If the word ‘burnout’ resonates with you or you recognise any of the above, then this is your wake-up call; it is time to re-energise and review. We can help you explore your own personal burnout and find ways to leave it behind; either by rediscovering the happiness and meaning in your life, or by supporting to you to make new choices for a more wholehearted and joyful future.
Burn out
‘Burnout’ is poorly defined but resonates with many people. It is usually associated with work but it can come out of any life situation. It is not the same as stress or depression or chronic fatigue syndrome but there may be some overlap in symptoms. Burnout can be many things and manifest in many ways.
